“The best schools have built true partnerships with parents” (Stoll and Fink)
Here at St. Senan’s Primary School we know that the best learning takes places, when Home and School work together. We recognise the crucial role that adults play in the wider circle of a child’s life. The special relationships that parents have with their child are often supported by loving grandparents, aunts, uncles and many, many others such as childminders and neighbours.
My Job as Home School Community Liaison is to be here, as a support for you in delivering the best educational experience that your child can have. This can take place in many ways from before enrolling at school, right through their time here at St. Senan’s and onwards to your child’s transition to Post Primary.
Children absolutely love seeing members of their family in school, whether that is helping out with literacy groups, attending courses and classes or working in the garden. Over the past two years, we have really missed having parents calling in, but we know that we have created new and unique relationships between home and school as we navigated the challenges of the Covid 19 Pandemic together.
As we look toward the future, we are hopeful that we will be able to welcome parents into our school again, with all the benefits that this provides for our children.
Home Visitation is a key part of my job and I am more than happy to call out to you if you have any queries or concerns. Over the past 4 years, I have been lucky to meet a large amount of our parents and hopefully I am a familiar face to many by now!
You can find me at 087 1840516 or message the “St. Senan’s Home School Liaison” page on Facebook.
Our school sits on the side of historic Vinegar Hill, and the history of our town is significant to our school community.
